There are different types of Vacuum Trucks used for different applications. Some trucks are used for septic and trap grease services.

These trucks have a tank and a vacuum pump to suck wastewater or other non hazardous, non-flammable-liquids. These trucks are used to service cesspools, sewage ejection pits, haul industrial rinse, grease traps, and rain water. Amongst other wastewater removal applications.

Some of these trucks have the ability to be pressurized and a host of other options. They can be equipped for pipe jetting, there are storage options, and a variety of other options. They are expensive pieces of specialized equipment. Other vacuum trucks have hydraulic powered hose handlers that extend out and operate a large diameter suction hose. These vac trucks have very large industrial vacuum pumps. These vacuum trucks are designed to convey solid material like dirt, mud, petroleum contaminated soil, rocks, storm drain refuse, deep pits, sumps, dry wells, catch basins, solidified grease inside neglected grease traps, and a variety of other applications. These vac trucks can also be used in other environmental applications. Utility locating for hydro excavation also know as soft dig, or hydro-ex. This allows for high precision locating of underground gas mains, electric service, fiber optic communications, sewers, and fresh water services, or anything else that might be buried. This is the preferred method because there is a dangerous risk of damage when traditional excavating machinery is digging rigidly through any soil or dirt. There is a non conductive hose hydraulically operated from above. This soft dig process is less evasive because only a small hole is needed to confirm your utilities location.

There are vac trucks that add the combination of high pressure water systems that use large quantities of water at high pressure to clean pipes from 4” to 36” diameters and special culvert cleaning attachments as well as root cutters. These are industrial machines used by municipalities and states to keep drainage and sewage infrastructure working. They are extremely expensive and require constant maintenance and upkeep. These are amongst a few of a variety of specialized vacuum trucks available for specific vacuum truck applications throughout different industries.
